Yoga Nidra + Restorative Yoga

Yoga Nidra + Restorative Yoga

with Astrid Bernard

Friday, March 8th from 6:00-7:30 PM

Enjoy a relaxing evening in the studio and take a break from all the “to dos” of life. Astrid will guide you into soothing restorative poses and take you through a deeply healing Yoga Nidra meditation!

What is Restorative Yoga?

It is a style of Yoga. Each pose is held for longer periods than in conventional Yoga classes. We use props ( bolsters, blankets, blocks ) to help support our practice. It is very relaxing and soothing for the nervous system.

What is Yoga Nidra?

During Yoga Nidra you are prompted to feel your body and your breath using a specific technique that takes you out of “ fight - flight - freeze” state and triggers the relaxation response. The relaxation response is the activation of the parasympathetic nervous system. In this process your brain shifts from Beta brain waves to Alpha brain waves, then to Theta. This is the most restorative and restful state in which organs regenerate and the body metabolizes cortisol ( the stress hormone) and moves it out of your system.
